All auditions will be held in the choir room (room 165) at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church, 6101 Morriss Road, Flower Mound. [map]

The Philharmonic Orchestra and Preparatory Orchestra encourage all instruments to audition.

The Symphony Orchestra only needs the following instruments:

  • violin
  • viola
  • cello
  • double bass
  • French horn
  • bassoon
  • trumpet
  • percussion

Placement in our orchestras is based primarily on skill level rather than age or years of experience. Players who have advanced quickly might be a better fit for higher ensembles such as the Symphony, just as those who have taken time off might want to start off in the Preparatory or Philharmonic Orchestra.

»  Please Read to the end of this page to see what is expected for audition candidates at each level.

» Candidates for Symphony Orchestra please note: The Flower Mound Symphony is made up of unpaid, volunteer musicians. Regular rehearsals are held on Monday evening, with an additional rehearsal a few days before a concert and a Saturday morning dress rehearsal on the day of a concert. Concerts are usually on Saturday evening, sometimes repeated on the following Sunday afternoon or evening.

» Candidates for the Philharmonic and Preparatory Orchestras please note: The Flower Mound Philharmonic Orchestra and the Flower Mound Preparatory Orchestra are educational organizations and have an associated tuition fee. Regular rehearsals are held on Tuesday evening, and concerts are usually on Tuesday evening. Please see the Musician Handbook for more information, including advice for auditions and details about tuition.

All three orchestras usually rehearse and perform at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church in Flower Mound.  See this year’s Season Schedule to get an idea of the typical performance schedule.
