The Philharmonic Orchestra and Preparatory Orchestra encourage all instruments to audition.

The Symphony Orchestra particularly needs the following instruments:

  • violin
  • viola
  • cello
  • double bass
  • French horn
  • bassoon
  • trumpet
  • percussion

Placement in our orchestras is based primarily on skill level rather than age or years of experience. Players who have advanced quickly might be a better fit for higher ensembles such as the Symphony, just as those who have taken time off might want to start off in the Preparatory or Philharmonic Orchestra.

Please note: The Symphony Orchestra’s regular rehearsals are on Monday evening, with an additional rehearsal a few days before a concert and a Saturday morning dress rehearsal on the day of a concert. Concerts are usually on Saturday evening, sometimes repeated on the following Sunday evening.  The Philharmonic and Preparatory Orchestras’ regular rehearsals are on Tuesday evening, and concerts are usually on Tuesday evening.  All orchestras usually rehearse and perform at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church in Flower Mound.  See this year’s Season Schedule to get an idea of the typical performance schedule.
